A new generation of locating equipment is the result of 30 years of experience in introducing new technological solutions to the market. These solutions eliminate crashes with underground elements of the infrastructure. Utilities that are not visible cause a serious risk for building workers that perform excavation works all over the world. Incorrectly planned locations of excavations may lead to damage of underground networks and to serious injuries or even death. CAT 4 + is suitable for locating such utilities. Its regular use ensures safety during excavation works.

C.A.T (Cable Avoiding Tool) locator receiver signals from buried metal installation, for example 50Hz, from electricity cables and radio waves transmitted by metal pipes and telecommunication cables. In good conditions, using Power and Radio modes, this locator detects most of metal elements of underground reinforcement.

• Power – locates live electricity cables, steel and gas pipes, hot traditional and preinsulated pipes
• Radio – locates telephones cables, cable TV cables, live electricity cables, street light cables that are not in used daytime.
• Genny – the cooperation between the locator and Genny generator, which sends an active signal at 33kHz frequency to improve location parameters.
• AvoidanceMode™ function - simultaneous use of Power/Radio/Genny to penetrate an area in three modes in order to increase the confidence of location results and to accelerate the speed of location works.

Additional functions available in other CAT 4+ models

• StrikeAlert™ - an automatic reaction of the equipment to shallow deep electricity cables (acoustic signal and a flashing icon on the display).
• eCAT4 – an internal data recorder that enables saving various instrument parameters during work, for example to verify applied procedures and increase instrument’s efficiency. Data recording embraces: work mode, date and time, the angle toward a located installation, carries depth measurements results, sensitivity settings, received signal’s strength, StrikeAlert and SWING alarms status, batteries or the date of calibrations.
• SWING Warning – warns against an incorrect use of the instrument such us excessive or rapid swinging when the instruments is tilted away from the plumb line.

The cooperation of CAT 4+ with an active signal transmitter

Using an active signal transmitted by Genny sent selectively on a single installation, C.A.T locator increases its location capacity. Therefore, deeply buried cast iron water pipes, unloaded street lighting cables or a locating tape or cable placed under plastic pipes or light guide cables. Working with Genny or independent signal probes (non-metallic pipes), C.A.T enables precise depth determination of buried utilities.
